An active band director, Adrian Chiang regularly works with musicians across all age groups, and from different walks of life. Throughout his years in the Singapore band movement, he has led many local bands to outstanding awards in both local and international festivals.

Besides being the resident conductor of the Singapore Polytechnic Band,Adrian Chiang is also the resident conductor of many other well-established bands in Singapore.He directs primary and secondary school bands such as Catholic High Symphonic Band,CHIJ(Toa Payoh) Concert Band,Raffles Girls Symphonic Band,and Maris Stella High Symphonic Band,Alumni Wind Ensemble and Primary Brass Band.At the post-secondary level,he works with young adults from the Victoria Junior College Symphonic Band,Singapore Management University Symphonia and the Philharmonic Youth Winds.He also conducts the Philharmonic Winds for outreach performances and concerts,and rehearses the group for guest conductors.

Under his musical direction,many of his bands have attained top awards at both local and regional competitions and festivals.At the recent SYF 2013 for secondary schools and junior college,all his schools attained the highest Certificate of Distinction.Also in 2013,the Singapore Management University Symphonia attained “Outstanding Success” in the Summa Cum Laude music festival in Vienna.

Prior to being a full-time band director,Adrian Chiang was the Orchestra Manager of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.Adrian’s love for conducting was however borne through the years,developed over the course of various professional conducting studies with respected figures in the world band scene, such as Allan McMurray,Eugene Corporon,Robert Reynolds,Tom Lee,Richard Craig,Richard Floyd,Frank Ticheli,Dennis Fischer,Laszlo Norbert Nemes,Christopher Hughes,Hardy Mertens,Bundit Ungransee,and John Boyd.

Besides conducting wind ensembles in Singapore,Adrian Chiang has also been invited overseas as a wind ensemble judge and clinician.
